# Connected agriculture, from the field to the cooperative | Tog Lab

> SuperAgro connects farmers, the people who advise them, and grain and credit cooperatives, all working from the same data and through the channel the farmer already uses. It started in Open Tog, the Tog Lab internal program that turns ideas into working products, and is now a Tog Lab spin-off.

# Connected agriculture, from the field to the cooperative

The farmer app is free and ready for use in the field. The agronomist and cooperative modules are at the screen prototype stage.

Product

SuperAgro and SuperAgro Coop

Industry

Agribusiness

What we did

Strategic design, product, mobile apps and development

Users

Farmers, agronomists, grain and credit cooperatives

Status

Farmer app at MVP, the rest in design

The agronomist starts the day, the farmer identifies a pest and the cooperative sees the whole region. Screens with sample data.

## Relationships in the field still run on improvisation

- Visits leave no recordThe agronomist walks the field and makes a recommendation. The notes stay with the agronomist and often never reach the farmer in an organized way.

- Apps farmers never openLots of information and little of what the farmer needs, in apps that are too heavy for a basic phone.

- Everything goes through WhatsAppPest photos, questions and recommendations get lost in the chat, with no history and nothing to back them up.

- Credit stays at the branchThe financial relationship depends on the branch manager, far from the people who are in the field every day.

## Four parties, one set of data

Each party uses its own app, and each app works on its own. Once connected, each party sees what it needs, always with the farmer’s permission. Pick a party.

## The agronomist visits. The farmer gets it on WhatsApp.

The visit log holds the check-in, the field on the map and the prescription. The farmer gets a short summary with a photo and a deadline, and replies with one tap.

- Plain words, no jargon

- The farmer’s reply becomes a record

- Backup for both sides

## One season, every party connected

How the same data moves from one party to the next over the course of a season.

## Built for how farms actually work

The principles behind every screen.

## Where things stand

The farmer app is ready. The rest is in design.

ModuleConceptPrototypeMVPIn the field

### Next steps, together with a cooperative

- Understand the cooperative’s priorities: products, members and regions.

- Design a pilot with one branch and a network of partner agronomists and technical assistance providers.

- Validate the flows in the field before expanding to other regions.

## What we did

From meeting with farmers to connected apps.

- ImmersionStrategic design with the fieldAn afternoon with crop farmers, ranchers and rural professionals to understand pain points and priorities.

- Farmer appFree and ready for the fieldAI pest identification from photos, weather and work windows, field management, voice logging and offline use.

- SuperAgro CoopAgronomist and cooperativeScreen prototype of the agronomist CRM and the grain cooperative management module, connected to the same data.

- Channel hubCredit that reaches the fieldConcept for the credit cooperative to offer products through the channels the farmer already trusts.

Strategic design immersion with people from the field.

Ideation during the immersion.

## What this case study shows

### Go to the farmer’s channel

Farmers read WhatsApp. The app comes in as a complement and as the destination for links, and the farmer’s reply becomes a record.

### Each party works on its own

The farmer app is useful even with no agronomist or cooperative connected. Connecting adds value, and the farmer decides what to share.

### Our own product as a lab

In Open Tog, Tog Lab tests on its own product the methods it brings to clients.

## Does your cooperative want to get closer to the field?

We start with a conversation about products, members and regions and, if it makes sense, a pilot.

## More on this page

- Takes a photo of the pest — AI offers guidance and the photo goes to the farmer’s agronomist.
- Confirms and visits — Check-in at the farm and the prescription on WhatsApp.
- Grain cooperative — Sees the pest across the region — Warns neighbors before it spreads.
- Needs funding — For the application now and for the next season.
- Agronomist as a channel — Offers crop financing — The credit cooperative’s product, offered by someone the farmer trusts.
- Credit cooperative — Receives the application — With the field history, and tracks it until the funds are released.

- Simple — Few words and one topic per screen. A direct verb on every button.
- Visual — An icon on every button and shortcut. Real photos of fields and pests.
- Accessible — Text follows the phone’s font size. Large tap targets that are easy to hit.
- Reliable — Works offline. AI and weather data guide, and the agronomist and the farmer decide.
- WhatsApp first — Farmers read WhatsApp. The app is a complement and the destination for links.
- Modular — Each module comes in when it makes sense, under the cooperative’s brand or inside the app it already has.
