Connected agriculture, from the field to the cooperative
SuperAgro connects farmers, the people who advise them, and grain and credit cooperatives, all working from the same data and through the channel the farmer already uses. It started in Open Tog, the Tog Lab internal program that turns ideas into working products, and is now a Tog Lab spin-off.
The farmer app is free and ready for use in the field. The agronomist and cooperative modules are at the screen prototype stage.

Relationships in the field still run on improvisation
- Visits leave no recordThe agronomist walks the field and makes a recommendation. The notes stay with the agronomist and often never reach the farmer in an organized way.
- Apps farmers never openLots of information and little of what the farmer needs, in apps that are too heavy for a basic phone.
- Everything goes through WhatsAppPest photos, questions and recommendations get lost in the chat, with no history and nothing to back them up.
- Credit stays at the branchThe financial relationship depends on the branch manager, far from the people who are in the field every day.
Four parties, one set of data
Each party uses its own app, and each app works on its own. Once connected, each party sees what it needs, always with the farmer’s permission. Pick a party.

- Advisors and banking agents
At concept stage, no prototype yet. The application goes back to the cooperative with the field history, if the farmer allows it.
The agronomist visits. The farmer gets it on WhatsApp.
The visit log holds the check-in, the field on the map and the prescription. The farmer gets a short summary with a photo and a deadline, and replies with one tap.
- Plain words, no jargon
- The farmer’s reply becomes a record
- Backup for both sides

Next steps, together with a cooperative
- Understand the cooperative’s priorities: products, members and regions.
- Design a pilot with one branch and a network of partner agronomists and technical assistance providers.
- Validate the flows in the field before expanding to other regions.
What we did

What this case study shows
Go to the farmer’s channel
Farmers read WhatsApp. The app comes in as a complement and as the destination for links, and the farmer’s reply becomes a record.
Each party works on its own
The farmer app is useful even with no agronomist or cooperative connected. Connecting adds value, and the farmer decides what to share.
Our own product as a lab
In Open Tog, Tog Lab tests on its own product the methods it brings to clients.
Does your cooperative want to get closer to the field?
We start with a conversation about products, members and regions and, if it makes sense, a pilot.
